Florida State on TV- You would think we would not have anymore firsts in the program after three years but being on TV was a first for us. The kids were a little nervous but settled down.
I really wanted to shoot myself about the travel again. We had Good Friday off so we flew to Jacksonville and drove by bus to Tallahassee. I thought it was max two hours (maybe that is with me driving in my own car) but it took all day to get there. A wreck in front of us and plane switches make it a long day.
When we reached Tallahassee all I wanted was food. Longhorn was great to accommodate us, we were in and out quick. I do love when hotels have breakfast on site. Ok I get to sleep in longer. At least I thought, my parents were there so they woke me up earlier than expected to eat.
Side note: For all to know that your parents will remain your parents and parent you forever! I was excited that my parents drove up from Tarpon Springs, Fl and spent a week with me and the team. They met us in Myrtle Beach for the games against Coastal Carolina. They came to the lovely town of Apex (where I live) for six days. I love it Mom's cooking for a few days. I love yellow rice and chicken with plantains. I was in Heaven. Wednesday they spent time with my aunt and cousins in Charlotte. Friday they drove to Tallahassee. It always means a lot to have my parents there. Now they could give there coaching advice in person and not on the phone. They will be back for ACC's.
Now back to the Seminoles: Tiffany McDonald pretty much controlled us the entire game. Not happy with all of our strikeouts. Our defense was spectacular making the plays with confidence. We hung around until the 9th inning and decided to hit the ball. Jen hit another towering home run off the scoreboard to win game one 2-0. I felt like I aged 10 years by the time the game was over.
Game two was a bit more exciting I actually got to give some signals. Abbie Sims pitched 9 innings the first game and turned it on with the bat in the second game. Two homeruns and four RBI's, she was ready. Shaina pitched well but the FSU hitters were putting the ball in play so we brought in Megan. She was facing the meat of the order and shut the door quickly. Sweeping FSU at FSU was a great day in Wolfpack Softball History and we got to do it on TV.
