What a great way to open the ACC play at 3-0. I said it was going to be a dog fight and the first three games were.
Game one was a see-saw game. Every time we seemed to get something going, BC came back with an answer. Our bats came alive for the double header. I would have to say that was the worst game I have ever seen Abbie pitch. It was cute at the end of the game for Abbie to go up to Ashleigh and say thank you for saving her. Ashleigh hit her first career home run, which was the game winning hit. I have known that she has it in her; this should give her some confidence for the remainder of the way.
Game two was 1-0 for the first six innings, so I was having a heart attack the entire time. We broke through in the 6th for six more runs and some breathing room. Shaina really pitched well. She was able to keep the Eagles off balance.
Sunday was Brooke Isley's birthday so that was fun.
Game three and it was back to see-saw time. We were hitting the ball but not playing with the fire to shut the door. Megan wasn't as sharp but with the help of Shaina for two innings and Abbie for the last two we got it done.
Lisa Nentwig really came through with a huge double to take the lead for good. She had some great hits at key times all weekend. We may even have Jen Chamberlin back, she is really seeing the ball well, and two home runs didn't hurt either.
The weekend was great to see different people contribute throughout the series. That is what it is going to take for us to be successful. I am not sure that my heart will be able to take it. The grey hair is starting to show up more and more.
Wednesday we play East Carolina and they have always had a great team. ECU will be a great test prior to playing Va. Tech next weekend.
