RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Laura Harper scored 20 points Sunday to lead No. 4 Maryland past North Carolina State, 65-57.
Crystal Langhorne added 14 and Kristi Tolliver 13 for Maryland (23-4, 10-2 Atlantic Coast Conference), which won its second straight since a 90-80 loss Feb. 13 at No. 1 Duke. Marissa Coleman had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Maryland hit five of its first six shots and never trailed.
Khadijah Whittington scored 14 points to lead N.C. State (16-10, 6-7 ACC). Seniors Billie McDowell and Monica Pope added 13 and 11 points in the last home game for five Wolfpack seniors.
Maryland led 27-20 at halftime. Tolliver keyed the Terrapins' balanced attack with eights points off her 3-for-5 shooting, which included two 3-pointers.
The Terrapins limited N.C. State to 6-for-27 shooting in the first half, holding the Wolfpack to its lowest shooting percentage in a half (22.2) against an ACC team.
McDowell had two 3-pointers and eight points in the first 3:04 after halftime. Her second 3-pointer drew N.C. State to 33-30. Coleman answered with two 3-pointers to spark a 15-4 run, and N.C. State never got closer than 50-38 in the last 10 minutes.
The game was named Hoops For Hope at N.C. State, with part of the proceeds dedicated to breast cancer research in North Carolina.
