NC State Cross Country Places 10 On All-Regional Teams

RALEIGH, N.C. Befitting their dual first-place finishes, NC State’s men’s and women’s cross country teams combined to place 10 runners on the NCAA Southeast Regional All-Regional teams, announced on tuesday by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The all-regional teams are based on finishing in the top 25 at the regional and meeting USTFCCCA specifications.
In related news, the Wolfpack men moved up one spot in the final USTFCCCA poll, from eighth to seventh, on the strength of their first-place showing at the Southeast Regionals. The women, interestlingly, dropped one spot from No. 2 to No. 3, despite winning the women’s regional. The NCAA Championships will take place next Monday in Terre Haute, Ind.
The Wolfpack men placed six runners on the All-Region team: Bryce Ruiz, Chris Kollar, Fredy Torres, John Crews, Stephen Furst and Tibor Vegh. Ruiz is a senior, the other five all juniors.
The women placed four runners on the all-regional team: regional individual champion Julia Lucas, Angelina Blackmon, Bona Jones and Brittany Tinsley. Lucas is a senior, Blackmon a junior, Tinsley a sophomore and Jones a freshman.
