NC State’s strong showings at last weekend’s NCAA Pre-Nationals did not go unnoticed by the national polls. In the October 17 men’s and women’s cross country polls released by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the Wolfpack is ranked No. 2 in the women’s poll and No. 9 in the men’s poll.
The Wolfpack women won the Pre-National White Women’s race, easily beating a field that included 12 other ranked teams, including third-ranked Michigan and fifth-ranked Wisconsin. Senior Julia Lucas won the White race and had the best time of anyone in either of the two women’s races.
The NC State men took third place in the Pre-National Blue race, behind now-second-place Colorado and eight-ranked Florida State.
The men and women are now in training for the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships, to be held October 28 at Charlottesville, Va.
