Wilhelm Receives NATYCAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award

ORLANDO - Junior Danielle Wilhelm was named the 2005 National Alliance of Two-Year Collegiate Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The awards were presented during NATYCAA's annual convention in Orlando on Tuesday, June 14.
Criteria for the award included a minimum 3.6 GPA and selection for All-Conference, All-Region or All-American honors in their respective sport.
Wilhelm, from Wichita Falls, finished her time at South Plains College with a 3.76 GPA while majoring in physical education. She plans to major in communications at NC State and has already begun taking classes during summer session.
Wilhelm, a 5-foot-10 guard/small forward, started all but one of her 65 career games with SPC, including all 35 last season en route to helping the Lady Texans to a program best 31-4 record. She was selected as a Kodak/WBCA All-America after averaging 14.9 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game in her sophomore campaign. Her team finished fourth in the NJCAA National Tournament, where she was named to the all-tournament team, after clinching both the Western Junior College Athletic Conference title and Region V titles. Wilhelm had earned WJCAC All-Conference honors as well for the second-straight year.
During the 2003-2004 season, Wilhelm was named to the All-WJCAC team after starting 29 of 30 games while averaging 12 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
