RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State assistant softball coach Pat Conlan has resigned to become the head coach at Georgetown University. The resignation was early in order to allow Wolfpack head coach Lisa Navas to replace her prior to the 2006 season. Conlan, who served as the pitching coach for NC State in the programs first two seasons, was in charge of a pitching staff that won 73 games in two seasons and finished 2005 with a team ERA of 1.71, good for third in the conference.
"It is time for Pat to be a head coach of her own program," said Navas. "We wish Pat the best in her pursuit and appreciate her respect for the program."
The Wolfpack will look to build on its 41-win season and fourth place finish in the ACC in 2006 as Navas continues to build off of the solid foundation already in place.
"We are bumping up the schedule for next season and it will be a great test of our players and it's a challenge we are all looking forward to," Navas said.
NC State will begin its search for an assistant coach immediately on a national level and has already fielded some great applicants.
