April 17, 2005
RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State women's basketball held its annual awards banquet Sunday, April 17, at the McKimmon Center. The Wolfpack coaches and staff handed out the year end awards to the appropriate recipients. Some awards were decided by the players themselves, while others were determined by the related staff member or coaching staff. This season for the first time in NC State history, the entire team received the Most Valuable Player Award. Such a unique honor was granted because the voting of an individual honor was too vast to determine one winner. NC State's concept of One Heart ~ One Mind truly came to fruition this season. Junior Billie McDowell earned the team's Most Improved Award, while freshman Khadijah Whittington was named the Peanut Doak Rookie of the Year. Other award winners included Monica Pope, Marquetta Dickens, Ashley Key, Sasha Reaves, Jennifer Filipowski, Tiffany McCollins, Tiffany Stansbury, Kendra Bell and Rachel Stockdale.
