No. 19 Wolfpack Hosts Clemson in Regular Season Finale

No. 19 NC State women's basketball hosts Clemson on Monday, Feb. 28, in the final regular Atlantic Coast Conference matchup of the 2004-05 season. The Wolfpack, 20-6 and 9-4 in ACC play will meet the Tigers, 8-18 and 2-11 in conference play at 7 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum. The 69th all-time meeting will be televised live on FOX Sports South with Beth Mowins and Debbie Antonelli. Radio coverage with Patrick Kinas on the Wolfpack Capitol Sports Radio Network begins 15 minutes prior to tip-off. The Wolfpack leads the all-time series with Clemson, 41-27 and is 20-6 in Raleigh.
NC State has won its last two games at home and five of six overall. With the 64-61 win at Wake Forest last Thursday, NC State solidified its first solo third place finish since the 1999-2000 campaign. The win also gave the Wolfpack its 20 victory and guaranteed its 20th, 20-win season. The Wolfpack's junior Tiffany Stansbury recorded her 16th double figure game of the season when tallied 21 points at Wake Forest to lead NC State. Stansbury now leads the Pack in all games for her 11.7 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game. Junior Billie McDowell leads NC State in ACC games only with 14.2 ppg and Stansbury is contributing 11.7 ppg in that time. As a team, NC State is in the Top 3 of nine of the 18 ACC statistical categories. The Pack is second in scoring defense (56.7) and turnover margin (+6.35) in all games. In ACC games only, NC State is Top 3 in seven of the 19 categories and is second in five of those. The Wolfpack is ranked second in scoring defense (62.5), 3-point field goal percentage (36.1), turnover margin (+4.31), assist/turnover ratio (0.98) and 3-pointers made a game (6.08).
The Clemson Tigers have two wins in ACC play, including their first win back on Jan. 9, 78-65 against the Wolfpack. Since then the Tigers have won just one game in 13 tries, and that win came last Thursday over Georgia Tech, 58-49. Clemson is 2-11 in conference play and 0-6 on the road. The Tigers are 8-18 on the year heading into their regular season finale. Clemson has one player averaging double figures, freshman D'Lesha Lloyd. The freshman is averaging 11.2 ppg in conference play and 9.1 ppg overall. Junior guard Reggie Maddox leads in scoring for all games with 9.4 ppg and is contributing 7.8 ppg in ACC games. Junior center Amanda White is averaging a team-high 5.7 rpg in conference action and 6.2 rpg overall. Clemson will be without one of its starters, junior Tasha Phillips. The guard has a broken bone in her left foot and is out for the remainder of the season.
The Tigers are led by 18th year head coach Jim Davis. Davis is 355-195 (.645) at Clemson and 374-203 (.645) after 19 years of coaching. He spent one year at Middle Tennessee State, where he led MTS to a record of 19-8. NC State head coach Kay Yow and Davis will meet for the 45th time on Monday. Davis leads the meetings with a record of 23-21. Yow is 41-27 all-time against the Tigers. Yow owns a record of 673-306 (.688) in 34 years and is 616-287 (.683) in her 30 seasons at NC State.
Series Notes: NC State and Clemson will meet for the 69th time in history. The Wolfpack leads the overall series 41-27 and is 20-6 in Raleigh. NC State has won its last two games at home against Clemson. The last win against Clemson was on March 6, 2004 in the quarterfinals of the ACC tournament, 45-43 ... The last loss in Reynolds Coliseum was on Feb. 25, 2002, 63-52 ... NC State lost the first round game at Clemson, 78-65 in South Carolina. It was the fourth-straight loss in Littlejohn.
Senior Recognition: NC State is 22-8 on senior night and 2-1 when facing Clemson. Two players will be recognized, Kendra Bell and Darline Jasmin, along with team manager, Jason Rasnake, prior to tip-off.
