Orlay Advances to Quarterfinals at Wilson/ITA Southeast Regional

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Women's tennis senior Barbara Orlay passed by two conference opponents on Saturday, Oct. 15, to advance into the quarterfinals singles round at the Wilson/ITA Southeast Regional Championships in Chapel Hill, N.C. In addition to Orlay, freshman Alejandra Guerra and sophomore Julia Roach also competed on the third day of tournament play.
In the singles round of 32, Orlay received a bye over Sara Anundsen of the hosting North Carolina Tar Heels. Facing Clemson's Carolina Salge in the round of 16, Orlay offered a nearly flawless performance, commanding a two set win, 6-2, 6-2.
Both Guerra and Roach fell in the round of 32. Jackie Carleton of Duke downed Guerra, 6-4, 6-3, while Roach lost to Wake Forest's Ashlee Davis, 6-0, 6-3.
Playing in the doubles round of 16, Duke's Clelia Deltour and Tara Iyer took down Orlay and Guerra, 8-4.
Orlay will continue in the singles quarterfinals tomorrow morning on the fourth day of the Wilson/ITA Southeast Regional Championships.
