Wolfpack Cross Country Teams Ranked in National Top 10

RALEIGH, N.C. - After collecting first place team and individual finishes at the Raleigh Invitational two weeks ago, the men's and women's cross country teams will head back into action this Friday at the Great American Championships. No surprise to those familiar with NC State cross country, both teams will go into the meet holding top-10 rankings nationally.
Led by returning ACC champion Andy Smith, the men's team owns a preseason ranking of No. 8 according to the MONDO men's cross country poll. At the Raleigh Invitational, redshirt freshman Chris Kollar led the Wolfpack "B" team with a first place finish in the 6,400 meter run. NC State held the top five spots in the event, with redshirt freshman John Crews, redshirt junior John Henderson and redshirt sophomores Phillip Stafford and Colin Cronin rounding out the top five.
In the FinishLynx poll, the Pack women's team currently holds the No. 5 spot nationally. Redshirt junior Abigail Nelkie finished first in the 5,000 meter run at the Raleigh Invitational to the led the Pack "B" team to a first place finish. Dominating the event, 10 members of the squad finished in the top 15.
On Friday, the Wolfpack will compete in four races at the Great American Championships, which will be held at the SAS Complex in Cary, N.C. A schedule of races featuring the Pack is listed below.
3:45 pm : Women - "B" Team
4:15 pm : Men - "B" Team
4:45 pm : Women
5:15 pm : Men
