Last week it was freshman Mason Schermerhorn winning a singles and a doubles title in a fall tournament, and this weekend teammate Ben Zink duplicated Schermerhorn's feat. After dropping his first match on Friday, the freshman from Elizabethtown, Pa. rallied, winning the back draw of the Singles Flight B with four straight wins. Zink teamed with junior teammate Will Shaw to win the Doubles Flight B in impressive fashion, losing only 12 games in four matches.
Zink downed Pritt Pihl (Liberty) in straight sets for the win, 6-3, 6-3. He was equally impressive in doubles with Shaw, as they won the finals 8-4 of Flight B.
Another freshman, David Rozek won the Round 2 Backdraw of Flight B, as the all Wolfpack semifinal pitted Rozek against Ryan Johnson, and Dennis Myers against Charlie Drew. Myers won 7-6, 6-1, while Rozek took a 6-0, 6-0 win over Johnson. In the final, Rozek struck first, taking the first set 6-4 before Myers blanked Rozek 6-0 in the second set. In the 10-point match tiebreak, Rozek narrowly edged Myers 12-10 for the win.
