NC State won four more singles matches on Sunday at the Wolfpack Invitational, pushing its tournament mark to 42 wins in the three day event. Paced by the play of Mason Schermerhorn, who won the Singles B Draw and teamed with Val Banada to win the Doubles B Draw, the Wolfpack ended the tournament on a winning note. Dennis Myers, William Noblitt and David Rozek each won singles matches as well in the final round.
Schermerhorn was impressive all weekend, going undefeated in both singles and doubles during his first collegiate tournament. He went 3-0 in doubles with Banada, and won five singles matches, including a win over the B draws top seed in the second round.
Noblitt defeated Padilla of Winthrop in three sets to take the North bracket of the A draw, while Darragh Rowan lost in the Northeast bracket final.
Myers was triumphant in a three-set dual with Ladoceur of UNC-G, dropping the first set 3-6 before winning the second, 7-6 (5). After Ladoceur forced a third set tiebreak, Myers found himself down double match point at 9-7 in the tiebreak. Myers would win five of the next six points to take the third set and match for the West bracket title.
