Wolfpack Edges Clemson, 45-43, In ACC Quarterfinals

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - Kaayla Chones scored 13 points and had 12 rebounds to lead North Carolina State to a 45-43 win Saturday over Clemson in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Tournament.
Lakeia Stokes led all scorers with 23 points for Clemson (17-11, 7-9). She was the only player to score in double figures for the Tigers; Julie Talley scored 8 points and Julie Aderhold scored 6.
Rachel Stockdale had 10 points for the Lady Wolfpack (17-13, 8-8) and Alvine Mendeng added 6, hitting 4-of-4 free-throws.
N.C. State shot 27.5 percent from the field for the game, including 5-of-21 from behind the 3-point line. Clemson fared little better, shooting 29 percent and hitting 5-of-17 3-pointers.
N.C. State led 21-16 at the half, holding on through four lead changes in the game for the win even though Clemson outscored the Lady Wolfpack 27-24 in the second half.
Clemson scored 11 points off turnovers to N.C. State's 10.
N.C. State advanced to Sunday's semifinals against North Carolina, who beat Virginia 64-45 in another quarterfinal game of the ACC tournament Saturday.
