
NC State Drops the Richmond Spiders, 5-1

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State won in convincing fashion over Richmond in women's tennis action on Saturday. The Wolfpack won 5-1, winning the doubles point early in a tight contest at No. 2 doubles, and winning four of the five singles matches. Barbara Orlay's match at No. 1 was not completed due to darkness.
NC State got on the board first with a win at No. 3 and No. 2 doubles. Richmond won at No. 1, but Nandita Chandrasekar and Danielle Stadlemann won at No. 2, 9-8 (5) after fighting off match point to win.
In singles, Chandrasekar, Lam, Jassawalla and Arechevaleta all won in singles, with Vania Apodaca the only Wolfpack player to lose, as she fell at No. 4. Orlay's match at No. 1 singles was suspended due to darkness, and Orlay won the first set 7-6.
