Track in Action at Carolina Classic

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The NC State track and field team was in action this past weekend, competing at the North Carolina Classic held at Chapel Hill. The Wolfpack had many competitors in the field events for both the men's and women's squads, plus a handful of runners competing.
Senior Felicia Fant continued her strong season with another NCAA Provisional time. Fant won the 60 meters with a time of 7.44. Also in that race, Courtney Patterson was fifth (7.60) and Joya Rodgers was 10th (7.66). Renee Gunning also brought home a first place finish, as she won the mile in 4:54.41. Kristin Price was fourth in the mile (4:59.40), Claudin Hull was fifth (5:03.87), and Lucinda Hull was ninth (5:06.80). Gunning was also NC State's top finisher in the 800 meters, placing 14th with a time of 2:22.10. Also in that race, Georgia Davis was close behind in 15th (2:22.88). Nasheena Quick finished third in the 60 hurdles, running a 8.73.
In the high jump, Joann Jackson placed seventh clearing 5'06", while Laila Thomas cleared 5'04.25" for eighth. Teresa Reed placed 12th in the pole vault (11'05.75"), and Sheena Dawkins was 13th in the long jump (18'01"). Brie Ward was 11th in the weight throw (46'07.25"), and 16th in the shot put (37'02.50").
On the men's side both Monterrio Adams and TJ Giwa placed strong in the 60 meters. Adams was ninth running a 6.93, and Giwa took 11th with his 6.99. Jesse Rhodenbaugh finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.13. Also in that race, Sajid Reshamwala was 11th (1:58.23), and Matt Kassouf was 18th (2:00.18). In the 60 hurdles, Antwan Graves was 17th (8.80) and Kevin Davis was 24th (9.01).
Michael Hill had a strong showing in the triple jump, placing third with a top mark of 48'10.25". In the pole vault Eric Hoverstad was seventh clearing 15'07". Chris Crawford was busy in the throws, taking third in the shot put (50'01.25") and 10th in the weight throw (49'07"). James Rowell was eighth in the weight throw with a heave of 54'02.50", and Mitchell Pope was fourth in the shot put (49'11.25").
