Raleigh, N.C. - NC State track and field coach Rollie Geiger has been named the ACC Men's Coach of the Year after the Wolfpack's performance at last weekend's ACC Championships. This is the second time that Geiger has been named coach of the year on the men's side and first since the 1996 season when the Wolfpack finished in second at the indoor championships. Geiger has now been named coach of the year five times in track, and an amazing 24 times in men's and women's cross country in his 25 seasons at NC State.
NC State compiled 88 points at the 2004 Men's ACC Indoor Track & Field Championship held in Clemson, S.C., February 20-21 to finish in third place overall. It is the highest finish for the Wolfpack since finishing third in three straight championships from 1998 to 2000. At this year's championship, NC State captured the men's 5,000m and long jump competitions, while taking spots two through four in the 3,000m run all under the tutelage of Geiger.
