Q & A with Blair Harkey

At West Rowan High School, Blair Harkey had a busy four years. In 2002 and 2003, the outfielder helped lead her team the state championship and, as a result, was awarded with both all-county and all-conference honors. A four-year letterwinner at West Rowan under Coach Ray Graham, she also played for the Frenzy, a softball team out of North Carolina. In addition to softball she was an all-around athlete, earning letters in basketball and cross country. Harkey spent some time with GoPack.com to give NC State fans a closer look at her life.

A: "Blair Elizabeth Harkey."
Q: Any nicknames?
A: "Bull."
Q: Where do you call home?
A: "Cleveland, NC."
Q: What position do you play?
A: "Outfield."
Q: What do you plan to study at NC State?
A: "Biological sciences."
Q: What made you choose to become a Wolfpacker?
A: "I felt at home here with these coaches and this program."
Q: We always have to throw a list of favorites in for the fans. Who is your favorite musician?
A: "Kenny Chesney."
Q: What about your favorite movie?
A: "The Nutty Professor."
Q: What is the last movie you saw?
A: "Ms. Doubtfire."
Q: What was the last book you read?
A: "Dating Game."
Q: What is your favorite television show?
A: "7th Heaven."
Q: Is there a television show you would never admit to watching?
A: "Rugrats."
Q: Let's move on to athletics. Who is your favorite professional sports team?
A: "Boston Red Sox."
Q: Who is your favorite athlete?
A: "Brittany Harkey, my sister."

A: "Ray Graham."
Q: What is your biggest fear?
A: "Ever letting my parents down."
Q: What do you like about NC State?
A: "I love it ALL!"
Q: What would you say is your favorite part of being on the softball team?
A: "Everyone works hard and pulls their own weight."
Q: Where do you like to hang out on campus?
A: "Locker room."
Q: We all like to take a break and get away every now and then. Where is your favorite vacation spot?
A: "Myrtle Beach with the sun, the beach, and the boys."
Q: Let us in on something that most people don't know about you.
A: "I love the outdoors. I love to hunt and fish with my daddy!"
