RALEIGH, N.C. - Wolfpack cross country head coach Rollie Geiger has been tabbed as the men's cross country coach of the year by the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), marking the 10th time that Geiger has received the award. In addition, Geiger has collected the women's honor 13 times.
On Saturday, Oct. 30, Geiger led the men's cross country team to their fourth consecutive, and 13th overall, conference crown at the ACC Championships in College Park, Md. The women's squad finished third overall. Under coach Geiger, the men's program has collected 12 conference titles, while the women have earned 17. Currently, the men's program is ranked No. 11 in the nation by the Mondo National Poll, while the FinishLynx National Poll ranks the women's squad at No. 10.
Coach Geiger is in his 23rd season as the Pack's head cross country coach. During Geiger's tenure as an assistant and head coach, NC State's teams have built a tradition matched by few programs nationally, combining to win 29 Atlantic Coast Conference team championships, 18 individual ACC championships, 139 All-ACC honors and 45 All-America certificates. Geiger's teams have finished in the national top-10 a remarkable 21 times, and three Wolfpack runners, Julie Shea, Betty Springs and Suzie Tuffey, have won five individual national titles combined.
