Women's Cross Country Places Second at District III Championships

RALEIGH, N.C. - On Saturday, Nov. 13, the NC State women's cross country team ran to a second-place team finish in the 6,000 meter race at the District III Championships in Greenville, N.C. Collecting a total of 75 points, the Pack finished four points behind conference foe Duke for first place. North Carolina, Wake Forest and Virginia rounded out the top five.
Coming off of a fourth-place finish at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships, junior Julia Lucas stepped up to lead the Pack with a third-place finish. Fellow junior Kristina Roth, coming off of an all-conference performance of her own, placed ninth. Freshman Angelina Blackmon made an impressive debut at her first district meet, running to a 15th place finish. Seniors Erin Swain and Josianne Lauber posted strong farewell performances at their final district meet, finishing 21st and 27th respectively. Red shirt junior Ginger Wheeler placed 30th, while freshman Magin Kebert came in 38th.
Coach Rollie Geiger will continue to prepare the team for the NCAA Championships, which will be held Monday, Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Ind.
