RALEIGH, N.C. - Saturday, Oct. 9 through Monday, Oct. 11, the NC State women's tennis team will compete at the historic National Tennis Center in New York City as a part of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Invitational. The tournament, which consists of four singles brackets and two doubles brackets, will play host to some of the top collegiate squads in the nation.
"This tournament is really going to give our team a great chance to compete against some really solid competition," said head coach Hans Olsen. "Several of the best teams in the country will be competing against one another this weekend and playing in this tournament really gives us a chance to make a name for ourselves and get ready for the upcoming season."
As if playing some of the best teams in the nation wasn't enough, the tournament will be held at the National Tennis Center in New York City. Recognized as one of the best tennis facilities in the world, the National Tennis Center served as home to the United States Open exactly one month ago.
"It's a real treat to play at the National Tennis Center," said Olsen. "These girls are representing their university and playing their hearts out every time they step out on the court. The thought of playing on the exact same courts as the best players in the world is just incredible. This is beyond exciting for everyone involved."
Next weekend, Friday, Oct. 15 through Sunday, Oct. 17, the Wolfpack will host 21 teams as they open up the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center to host the Residence Inn North Wolfpack Invitational.
