Orlay Advances to Sweet Sixteen at NCAA Southeast Regionals

RALEIGH, N.C. - On Friday, Oct. 22, NC State began competition at the NCAA Southeast Regional Indoor tournament in Winston-Salem, N.C. Senior Kristin Lam got in on the action, as well as junior Barbara Orlay, who finished the day with two singles wins under her belt.
In round one singles, Orlay battled from behind to top Sandie Knight of East Tennessee State, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5. In the second round, pitted against Christine Simpson of Kentucky, Orlay maintained the momentum of her first round win and collected a second victory in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5. On Saturday, Oct. 23, Orlay will square off against ACC foe Jenny Zika from Duke.
Following the completion of the NCAA Regional Indoors, the Pack will begin to prepare for the ITA National Indoor Championships. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association sanctioned event will take place Nov. 4 through Nov. 7 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
