
NC State Sweeps UNC-Wilmington, 7-0

RALEIGH, N.C. - The spring dual season got off to a resounding start for NC State women's tennis on Saturday, January 31 as the Wolfpack defeated the Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington 7-0. NC State won the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles matches, and won all six singles matches, four in straight sets, for the win. Nandita Chandrasekar, Barbara Orlay, Vania Apodaca and Kristin Lam each won a singles match and doubles match for NC State.
Chandrasekar (6-3, 6-4), Orlay (6-2, 6-0), Apodaca (6-2, 6-0) and Lam (6-0, 6-1) won in convincing fashion in straight sets for NC State in singles. At No. 5 and No. 6, Jennifer Jassawalla and Agustina Arechevaleta had a tough time in their first set, battling to take the first set in each match with an identical 7-6 (4) score. Jassawalla would dominate in the second set, winning 6-2 for the win and Arechevaleta won 6-0 to close out her match and complete the singles sweep.
Next up for the women's tennis team is a home match against Appalachian State on February 7 at noon.
