Pack Stands 18th After Two Rounds in Tucker Intercollegiate

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - NC State is 18th after 36 holes of the Tucker Intercollegiate, the Pack's opening tournament of the season. The Wolfpack had rounds of 304 and 302 to finish the day with a team total of 606. Senior Fernando Mechereffe leads the squad with a two-over par, 146. Arizona State leads the team standings with a 568, and Texas Tech's William Haddrell and Hawaii's Matthew Kodama are atop the leaderboard with a 137. The final round of play will resume at 7:30 a.m.(mst).
Mechereffe shot consecutive rounds of 73 Friday. Newcomers Jerry Richardson and Garry Hill both scored in their first team performance for the Wolfpack. Richardson finished the day tied for 63rd after firing rounds of 75 and 77 for a score of 152. Hill opened the first round with a 79 before setlling down for a 75 in the second.
Returning letterwinners Stephen Lewton and Wesley Horne are tied for 91st with a score of 157. Lewton had the team's high score in the first round with an 82, but turned around his performance in the second with a 75. Horne shot a 77 and 80.
