Chapel Hill, N.C. - Furman was too much for NC State on Saturday afternoon, and picked up a 5-1 win over the Wolfpack at the Chapel Hill Tennis Club. Play was moved from the Cary Tennis Center and rescheduled to 1 p.m. because of thunderstorms that rolled through the area before noon. Carmen Torres scored the only point for the Wolfpack in the flight six match. Doubles matches were not played.
Torres dropped Furman's Lauren Welch in straight sets with a 7-5, 6-2 decision. The win is her second in three days.
The Furman lineup got wins in the top five spots by Mary Kovaric, Mary Neill Hagood, Natalie The, Shannon Moore and Shellie Cochran.
NC State will travel to Wake Forest on Sunday to face the Deamon Deacons (2-18). Both teams will be seeking their first Atlantic Coast Conference win of the season. Wake got its second win of the spring Saturday in a 7-0 win over Richmond. Action is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the
