Wolfpack Takes 4-3 Triumph Over 49ers

Men's tennis won its first road match of the season on Saturday, defeating Charlotte 4-3 in the Queen City. Will Shaw (No. 2), Val Banada, (No. 3), Jon Davis (No. 4) and Rehman Esmail (No. 6) won for the Wolfpack (3-9) after Charlotte won the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, 8-4 and 8-6, respectively. Banada improved to 6-6 on the season, with a perfect 6-0 record at No. 3 singles.
Shaw improved his No. 2 singles record to 2-3 with his 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over Marlo Santoso. Jon Davis defeated David Bolin in three sets after dropping his first set 6-3. He rebounded with a 7-6, 7-5 three set victory. Rehman Esmail won 7-5, 6-4 to clinch the victory for NC State.
NC State will host Florida State in the Wolfpack's third conference match of the season after an 0-2 ACC start. The match will begin at 1pm, Sunday March 9 at the Cary Tennis Center.
