JV Wins Wingate Lady Bulldog Invitational

Marshville, N.C. - Four Wolfpackers finished in the top five of the field at the Lady Bulldog Invitational, as the women's junior varsity golf squad carded a winning two-round score of 632. The Wolfpack posted a round of 310 on Tuesday. Led by the effort of Leslie Stubblefield, the individual winner, NC State's squad finished 70 strokes ahead of the nearest challenger. The Wolfpack's top four competitors each improved on their day one scores Tuesday. The event was hosted by Wingate at the Eagle's Chase Golf Course in Marshville, N.C.
Stubblefield posted a two-round total of 149 to finish just five-over-par for the 36-hole tournament. The win is the first in her collegiate career. Tuesday, she posted a tournament-low round of 74.
Lorrainne Ballerano finished in third with a total of 158, after firing a second-round score of 75. Molly Birmingham and Gwen Watson finished tied for fourth at 163, and Margaux Hennessey finished with a share of seventh at 166.
The varsity squad will resume action this weekend at the Bryan National Collegiate in Browns Summit, N.C. The three-round event is co-hosted by Wake Forest and UNC Greensboro.
