EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Cathrine Kraayeveld scored 18 points and Andrea Bills added 17 to lead No. 24 Oregon past North Carolina State 83-78 on Saturday night in the first round of the Oregon Classic.
Kedzie Gunderson and Kayla Steen both scored 11 points for the Ducks (5-0), off to their best start since going 6-0 in the 1999-00 season. Kraayeveld also had eight rebounds and Corrie Mizusawa added 10 assists, her third game this season with 10 or more.
Oregon will face Kansas in the championship game Sunday. Kansas beat Sacramento State 70-64.
Kaayla Chones scored 25 points for the Wolfpack (2-2) before fouling out with 1:27 left in the game. Keisha Brown added 15.
The score was tied 69-all with 4:25 to play, but a 3-pointer by Gunderson gave the Ducks the lead and sparked a 13-4 run that sealed the victory. Brandi Davis added a 3-pointer and made two free throws during the spurt.
It was a tightly played first half and the game was tied at 34 at the break.
Chones scored 10 of her points before halftime, but also picked up three fouls. She was called for her fourth 2:49 into the second half and was forced to sit for more than six minutes.
During Chone's time on the bench, the Wolfpack unraveled, as Oregon, up 40-39, went on a 20-8 run to take a 60-47 lead before Chones re-entered with 10:57 left.
Back-to-back baskets by Bills built the Ducks lead to 64-47 before N.C. State started to chip away, finally tying the game on a rebound basket by Brown to cap a 22-5 run by the Wolfpack. Chones scored 12 of those points.
