Mechereffe Leads NC State to 16th at Capital Carpet Collegiate

ROCKY FACE, Ga. - Fernando Mechereffe carded a final round 73, posting three birdies and four bogeys to close out the Capital Carpet Collegiate in 33rd. The Wolfpack fired a 303-296-298=897 to finish 16th as a team., three strokes ahead of nationally ranked No. 4 Southern California. The field consisted of six of the top-10 and nine of the top-20 teams in the country including Nos. 1-4. No. 1 TCU finished in 13th, just ahead of NC State.
Freshman Jerry Richardson finished tied for 57th with a final round 73. His 74-78-73=225 was good for second on the team and 15th among all ACC golfers participating. Another Wolfpack freshman, Garry Hill was not far behind, with his three-day 77-73-77=227 good for 63rd.
Stephen Lewton finished 65th, shooting a 82-71-75=228, while Jeremy Langdale finished 89th.
