NC State Finishes Strong Behind Three Top-40 Finishes

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Behind the solid play of three top-40 individual performances, NC State men's golf finished 12th at the Country Club of Louisiana Intercollegiate as Stephen Lewton led the team in 26th place. He fired a 74-75-70=219 and freshman Jerry Richardson finished two strokes back with a 76-70-75=221 in t-35th place.
As a team, the Wolfpack posted rounds of 297-291-296=884.
Senior Fernando Mechereffe finished in a tie for 39th after a 72-75-75=222. Senior Wesley Horne continues to take advantage of his playing opportunities with a t-59th showing. Horne, from Wadesboro, N.C., fired consistent rounds of 75-75-76=226 in the tournament.
Freshman Garry Hill closed the Wolfpack team with a 80-71-89=240. His second round 71 was a career-best through three tournaments.
NC State will compete in the Hooters Collegiate Match Play Tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Nov. 7-9 to wrap up the fall slate.
