Women's Basketball Falls To Florida State, 64-55

The game started out in NC State's favor as it held a five-point edge for the first 10 minutes. In fact, the Wolfpack managed to get ahead by as many as 10 points with seven minutes remaining. Unfortunately, the next six minutes led to a Florida State lead at the break. Chones led the defensive rebounding as she snatched 10 of the 15 total recorded by the Pack. Scoring was spread throughout the NC State lineup. Senior Amelia Labador led the way with eight points after she made good on two three-point attempts.
The second 20 minutes was all in favor of the Florida State offense as it outscored the Pack 31-23, which was directly related to frequent visits to the free throw line. Altogether, the Seminoles went to the line 23 times, compared to just three from the Pack, the entire game. FSU dominated in the paint as well, as it outscored NC State 17-2 in the lane. Three women had six points each, including Chones, senior Carisse Moody and freshman Billie McDowell. Collectively, the Wolfpack shot 46.7 percent in the first 20 minutes. For the Seminoles, Morrise led with nine points, while Holly Johnson managed seven. Chones added six more defensive rebounds in the second half to complete her 16 for the gamee. Moody tallied six rebounds, while redshirt-junior Terah James added five boards.
NC State will host Virginia on Sunday, Jan. 12, at 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on FOX Sports South. Florida State will host No. 10 North Carolina on Sunday as well and will look to continue its three-game winning-streak.
