Men's Track & Field Competes at Tar Heel Classic

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The NC State men's track & Field team competed at the Tar Heel Classic hosted by North Carolina Friday night. Highlights for the men include James Rowell's third straight win in the weight throw, and the Wolfpack runners taking two of the three top spots in both the mile and the 3,000 meters.
The Wolfpack placed two runners in the top-three in both the mile and the 3,000 meters. Ricky Brookshire was second with a time of 4:14.78, and Jesse Rhodenbaugh took third with his time of 4:15.04 in the mile. In the 3,000 meters it was David Christian in second (8:19.79) and Devin Swann in third (8:29.27). TJ Giwa placed sixth in the 200 meters (22.46) and 26th in the 60 meters (7.12). Jeff Baird was 33rd in the 200 meters (23.78) and 49th in the 60 meters (7.66). Monterrio Adams placed 17th in the 400 meters with a time of 51.05. Sajid Reshamwala was 22nd in the 800 meters (2:04.91), and Adam McGugan was 26th (2:07.28).
In the field events, James Rowell won his third straight weight throw title with a top mark of 61'02.75". Randy Cass was third in the weight throw (53'01.50") and fourth in the shot put (47'00.25"). Eric Hoverstad took third in the pole vault with a mark of 15'03", and Justin Farmer was fifth (14'09"). Jesse Williams placed fourth in the high jump clearing 6'11". Michael Hill placed sixth in the triple jump (48'01.25"), while Jason Vieira was seventh (47'10"). In the long jump, both Derrick Harris and Chris Ganey leaped 20'05.75" for 18th place.
The NC State women's team will compete in the Tar Heel Classic on Saturday.
