Raleigh, N.C. - Head Coach Rollie Geiger and the NC State cross country program hosted the ninth annual adidas Wolfpack Classic Saturday at the University Club in Raleigh. Nine colleges fielded a team, while 51 high school squads took part in the event. The NC State women's "B" team finished second to Tennessee in the 5-K race, while two unattached Wolfpack men's runners placed first and second in the 8-K.
Wolfpack runner John Huber paced the field with a time of 24:43 to finish first in the race, while John Henderson followed closely behind in second, crossing the finish line at the 24:52 mark to take second place.
The women's "B" team also had a good day with all five scoring runners finishing in the top 20. Redshirt Freshmen Abigail Nelkie and Leslie Jimison crossed the finish third and fourth in the race. Michelle Popple finished eighth, with Becky Hoover coming in 11th. Karen Medlin finished in 20th. Unattached runners Jessica Durrant and Kelly Brown had times of 21:16 and 21:25 respectively. Tennessee won the race by placing five runners in the top nine, while the blockers finished 10th and 12th.
