Cross Country To Host adidas Wolfpack Classic

Raleigh, N.C. - NC State is set to host the ninth annual adidas Wolfpack Classic this Saturday, Sept. 21, at the University Club located on Hillsborough Street near the fairgrounds. The men's collegiate race will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the women's race to follow at 9:10 a.m. High school races will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will continue throughout the afternoon, with youth races starting at 2:00 p.m.
The collegiate race will feature six women's teams and nine men's teams. Schools fielding a women's team in the event are NC State, Campbell, East Carolina, Mt. Olive College, NC A&T, St. Augustine's College, Salem College, Tennessee and UNC Wilmington.
Lining up for the meet from the NC State women's team are: Ginger Wheeler, Leslie Jimison, Michelle Popple, Abigail Nelkie and Karen Medlin. All five are redshirt freshmen. Freshmen Kelly Brown and Jessica Durrant, as well as senior Beth Kraft will run as unattached participants in the 5-K race. Kraft is back for a sixth year of eligibility after missing two full seasons early in her career.
For the exception of NC State, Salem College and Tennesse, all of the teams entering a women's team will also field a men's team.
While the NC State men's squad will not enter a team for the event, several members are running unattached. Freshmen Colin Cronin, Matt Kassouf, Lance Hall, Kevin Demir, Peter Ellis and Phillip Stafford will participate in the 8-K race.
Races will continue throughout the day, with the girls high school championship beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the boys race beginning at 10:40 a.m. Results for the following races will be posted at www.GoPack.com in PDF format Saturday afternoon following the race.
Admission to the event is free. Races will begin behind the clubhouse, with the men's collegiate race beginning at 8:30 a.m. A full map of the course, as well as course records are available in the attached document.
