
Track & Field Competes at Duke Invitational

Durham, N.C. - The NC State track & Field was back in outdoor action this past weekend, competing at the Duke Invitational hosted by Duke University.
Katie Bolac tied her own school record in the pole vault, recording a NCAA provisional mark of 12'05.50" to finish third. Kelly Smoke also broke the school record in the discus, throwing 150'08" to finish in third place. Smoke was also 12th in the hammer (152'11").
Both Katie Sabino and Megan Coombs notched NCAA provisional times in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Sabino placed second with a time of 10:15.07, while Coombs was close behind in third running a 10:15.27.
In the women's sprints, Felicia Fant advanced to the finals of the 100 meters and placed sixth with a time of 12.39. In the prelims, Ebony Foster placed seventh with a time of 12.31, Leigh Neely was 38th (13.14), and Adrianne Vinson took 49th (13.78). Fant was also NC State's top finisher in the 200 meters with a time of 25.31 for 15th place. Foster also advanced to the finals of the 100 hurdles and was fifth running a 14.32. In the prelims, Vinson took 32nd (16.35) and Leigh Neely was 34th (16.43). The women's 4x100 relay team was fourth (46.73).
In the 800 meters, Renae Robinson placed 27th (2:14.62) and Kristin Price was 41st (2:20.86). Price was also eighth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:27.19. In the distance races it was Janelle Vadnais in the 3,000 meters taking 13th with a time of 9:54.85. In the 5,000 meters, Jennifer Modlizewski was sixth (17:09.51) and Beth Kraft was ninth (17:22.05).
Thrower Isaiah Oglesby returned to the men's team after missing the indoor season due to injury to compete in the hammer for the first time. The NC State school record holder finished in third place with a heave of 198'03". Also in the hammer it was James Rowell in seventh (179'11"), and Randy cass in eighth (176'03"). In the high jump it was Brandon Brown taking 11th place by clearing 6'06".
In the men's sprints, TJ Giwa placed 15th in the 100 meters with a time of 11.04, while Joseph Brent was close behind running a 11.06 for 16th place. Also in that race, Aahmese King was 40th (11.49).Giwa was also NC State's top finisher in the 200 meters placing 10th with a time of 21.95. Also in that race, Monterrio Adams was 26th (22.48), Brent placed 28th (22.53), and Tyrone Dozier was 37th (22.92). King was also 29th in the 100 hurdlers (15.94). Derrick High came away with a top finish in the 400 meters, recording a 10th place showing with a time of 47.33. The 4x100 meter relay team took second (40.80).
In the 1,500 meters, senior Chris Dugan was NC State's top finisher with a time of 3:50.84 for seventh place. Andy Smith also placed in the top-20, bringing home a 12th place finish with a time of 3:51.96. Also in that race, Nick Mangum was 25th (3:57.50) and Ryan Woods took 32nd (3:59.47).
