Women 13th, Men 23rd at NCAA Championships

Terre Haute, Ind. - NC State's cross country teams posted respectable finishes in the NCAA Championships Monday afternoon in Terre Haute, Ind. The women's team took 13th (404 points) overall, paced by All-American Kristin Price who scored in 22nd. The men's squad took 23rd (552 points) with two runners placing in the top 50.
Price, now a two-time All-American in cross country, finished the 6K course in a time of 20:77.8. Freshman Kristina Roth was the Wolfpack's second finisher. She crossed the finish line in less than 21 minutes to take 47th.
Josianne Lauber, who has ran well for the Wolfpack this season, finished in 51st. Diana Henderson and Janelle Vadnais were the remaining scorers for NC State. Henderson finished in 139th and Vadnais in 149th.
Abagail Nelkie and Julia Lucas finished as the sixth and seventh runners, Nelkie in 152nd and Lucas in 170th.
Megan Coombs, an All-American in 2001, was absent from the lineup.
Devin Swann and David Patterson were the top Wolfpack finishers in 44th and 49th, crossing the line nearly seven seconds a part. Swann's time was 30:42.1. Kurtis Marlowe finished in 79th, Bryce Ruiz in 187th and Dean Bowker in 193rd.
David Christian and Ricky Brookshire rounded out the pack in 194th and 201st respectively.
BYU was crowned the champion in the women's race for the second consecutive year. UNC's Shalane Flanagan took the individual crown. Stanford's men posted a score of 47 to take team honors, while Colorado's Jorge Torres won the individual title.
