Raleigh, N.C.-The newest edition of the Sears Director's Cup rankings are out and the NC State Wolfpack currently stands 18th in the nation. The current standings are based upon the completion of men's and women's cross country, field hockey, football, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball and water polo. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports--10 for men and 10 for women. Each national champion receives 100 points.
The NC State men's and women's cross country squads, coached by Rollie Geiger, gave the Wolfpack an early boost in the standings when they placed both of their teams in the top 10 nationally. The Wolfpack women finished second at the NCAA meet, their highest finish in 14 years.
The Wolfpack men's cross country team took ninth-place at nationals with Chad Pearson and Chis Seaton earning All-America honors.
