NC State Cross Country Sweeps At Great American

Raleigh, N.C.--The nationally-ranked NC State men's and women's cross country squads swept the Great American Cross Country Festival in Charlotte, N.C. over the weekend.
The 11th-ranked men, who tallied 34 points, raced to a victory over #19 Michigan to secure the victory. Chad Pearson led the way for the Wolfpack men, taking third overall in 24:08.3, just ahead of Chris Seaton (24:12.6) in 5th and senior All-American Chris Dugan (24:17.7) in 6th. All-American Andy Smith (8th, 24:35.5), Ricky Brookshire (12th, 24:44.8), David Christian (14th, 24:47.7) and Nick Mangum (16th, 24:50.8) rounded out the scoring for the Wolfpack.
Other finishers for NC State included Devin Swann (20th, 24:58.9), Ryan Woods (23rd, 25:10.1), Dean Bowker (42nd, 25:35.9), John Huber (69th, 26:04.8) and David Patterson (88th, 26:27.3).
The 9th-ranked NC State women took first with 41 points, just ahead of #4 BYU (59), #6 North Carolina (83), #12 Arkansas (95), #25 Duke (130) and #21 Wake Forest.
Kristin Price was the top finisher for the women, taking third place with a finishing time of 17:14.6. Megan Coombs (6th, 17:21.6) and Beth Fonner (9th, 17:26.4) also posted top ten marks for the Wolfapck.
All-American Katie Sabino came in 12th (17:31.1), just ahead of Josie Lauber (22nd, 17:50.1) and Janelle Vadnais (33rd, 18:06.6).
Also competing for the Wolfpack were Beth Kraft (42nd, 18:17.1), Molly Purser (78th, 18:49.3) and Jennifer Modliszewski (108th, 19:23.2).
The Wolfpack will be competing in the Greensboro Invitational next week.
