Cross Country Prepares For District III Championships

The NC State men's and women's cross country squads will look to continue their recent dominance at the District III Cross Country Championships in Greenville, S.C. on Saturday.
The NC State women, ranked fourth nationally, are looking to build on a stellar performance two weekends ago at the ACC Championships in Clemson, S.C. There, Rollie Geiger's squad won their 19th ACC Championship. Only five times has the ACC title not been claimed the Wolfpack women. The women are led by All-American Katie Sabino (4th at ACC Championships) and junior Megan Coombs (6th). Sophomore Kristin Price and senior Beth Fonner also finished the top ten at Clemson, earning All-ACC honors.
The Wolfpack men are ranked sixth in the latest MONDO Coaches poll. The men won their conference title by ammassing a low score of 26 points. It was their sixth ACC title in the last seven years and marked the fifth time in the past seven seasons that both teams notched ACC supremacy. The men are led by juni o r Chad Pearson, senior All-American Chris Dugan and senior Chris Seaton. Sophomore All-American Andy Smith and sophomore David Christian also finished among the top 10 finishers at the conference meet, giving the Wolfpack five All-ACC honorees.
