RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina State needed a little time to get up to speed against overmatched Radford.
Carisse Moody had 19 points and six rebounds to lead No. 10 N.C. State to an 84-47 victory over Radford on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.
"Overall, I'm pleased with our first game out," Wolfpack coach Kay Yow said. "In the first half, we weren't playing the kind of defense we wanted to play. As we picked up our defensive intensity in the second half, it made the difference all the way around."
Kaayla Chones, Amy Simpson and Nanna Rivers added 10 points each for N.C. State, and Rivers had five assists and two blocks.
Amanda Neby and Ludmil Nicheporchuk led Radford with 10 points each. Radford shot just 32.2 percent from the floor.
