Chan Pons Wins 2000 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

Indianapolis, IN (July 18) - The NCAA announced on July 18 that Chan Pons, a five-time
All-American in cross country and track, is the recipient of a 2000 NCAA
Postgraduate Scholarship. This is the fourth consecutive year that NC
State's cross country program has had an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
winner.
As a senior, Pons placed 18th overall at the NCAA Championships in cross country and achieved All-America status in indoor track in the 3000 meters. Pons now serves as a graduate assistant for the cross country program.
The NCAA annually awards 174 postgraduate scholarships to student-athletes who have excelled academically and athletically and are in their last year of intercollegiate athletics competition. The $5,000 scholarships are awarded to student-athletes that maintain at least a 3.00 cumulative grade-point average on a 4.0 scale and perform with distinction in varsity competition.
