Rodgers Advances to Finals at NCAA Championships

DURHAM, N.C. (June 1, 2000) -- The second day of the 2000 Outdoor track and field championships was highlighted by NC State's Brendan Rodgers advancing to the finals of the 1,500 meters Thursday night.

Senior Brendan Rodgers placed 8th in the preliminary round of the men's 1,500 meters. Rodgers ran the 1,500 meters in a time of 3:44.96, and placed sixth in his heat. Rodgers advances to the finals of the 1,500 meters on Saturday at 7:45 p.m.

Also competing for NC State was junior Tyrone Dozier. Dozier placed sixth in his heat with a time of 46.61 in the 400 meters, and failed to qualify for the final round. Dozier placed 18th overall.

Junior Katie Sabino ran in the women's 3,000 meters today, and finished seventh in her heat with a time of 9:36.71. Sabino placed 13th overall in the 3,000 meters.

In action tomorrow will be the Pack's Chris Dugan. Dugan placed third in the preliminaries of the 3,000 meter steeplechase, and will run in the finals at 8:20 p.m.
