NC State Cross Country Squads Finish 11th at NCAA Championships

The NC State men were led by 2000 ACC Freshman of the Year Andy Smith, who finished 45th overall (31:16.0) and junior Ryan Woods (50th, 31:18.8). Sophomore Chad Pearson took 93rd overall (31:42.5), redshirt freshman David Christian took 148th (32:11.3), sophomore Dean Bowker (159th, 32:16.2), redshirt freshman Devin Swann (160th, 32:16.9) and redshirt sophomore David Patterson (176th, 32:22.9) competed for the Wolfpack.
In team standings, Arkansas took the NCAA Championship with 83 points, Colorado took 2nd (94th), Providence was third(121), Stanford was fourth (149) and Wisconsin (167) rounded out the top five.
Junior Katie Sabino led the Wolfpack women with a 36th overall finish (21:25.1), while senior Christy Nichols was 61st overall (21:37.8). Junior Beth Fonner was 101st (21:58.7), junior Beth Kraft took 117th (22:06.4), freshman Diana Henderson finished 141st (22:19.2), senior Amy Beykirch was 163rd (22:31.3), while Erin Swain was 200th overall (22:55.3) to complete the finishing order for NC State.
In the womens team standings, Colorado finished first with 117 points. BYU took second with 167 points, while Stanford (198), Boston College (214) and Georgetown (247) rounded out the top five finishers.
