Ben Broussard joined NC State University as Executive Director of the Student Aid Association (Wolfpack Club) on June 1, 2020. As the leader of the Wolfpack Club — the fundraising arm of NC State University Athletics — Broussard oversees all philanthropic strategy and operations supporting the department’s 22 varsity sports programs.
The mission of the Wolfpack Club is to secure philanthropic funding that directly supports NC State Athletics in delivering a world-class and comprehensive student-athlete experience. Under Broussard’s leadership, the organization has expanded donor engagement, strengthened annual giving, and positioned the Wolfpack Club for sustained long-term growth in a rapidly evolving collegiate athletics landscape.
Upon his arrival in Raleigh, Ben, alongside Boo Corrigan, helped create a plan to guide the Pack through the financial challenges that COVID presented to the department. That plan included Preserve the Pack and Guardian Wolves, both designed to allow our donors and ticket holders to invest in the department during an uncertain time. NC State was one of the only schools in the country that had 100% of its donors choose to leave their annual fund gift with the WPC and was able to raise enough through the Guardian Wolves to have a balanced budget despite the challenges presented by COVID.
A defining initiative of Broussard’s tenure has been the launch of the Light It Red Campaign, a comprehensive fundraising campaign designed to elevate Wolfpack Athletics through strategic investments in scholarships, facilities, and program excellence. The campaign has raised over $7,500,000 in discretionary cash for the department to use to pursue excellence for our student-athletes.
In addition, Broussard led the creation of the Red Wolf Society, a leadership giving society recognizing and engaging donors making transformational investments in Wolfpack Athletics. Together, these initiatives have strengthened the financial foundation of the department and enhanced opportunities for more than 550 NC State student-athletes. Since its creation, the Red Wolf Society has grown to over 450 members in a collective effort to make NC State Athletics the best department in the country.
Broussard came to NC State after serving as Assistant Vice Chancellor of Advancement and Senior Associate Athletic Director at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he led the Buff Club and delivered record fundraising results, including significant year-over-year growth upon his arrival, closing three of the five largest gifts in school history, and helping secure the naming gift for the Crawford Club at Folsom Field.
Prior to Colorado, Broussard served in multiple leadership roles at Louisiana State University, including Vice President for Development at the Tiger Athletic Foundation. During his time at LSU, he helped lead philanthropic efforts exceeding $250 million, executed major facility campaigns, secured transformational planned gifts, and oversaw premium seating initiatives.
A graduate of LSU with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology (1999) and a master’s degree (2001), Broussard was a member of the school’s club rugby team. He has been active nationally with the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD), serving on its executive committee and as President in 2020-21.
Born in Lafayette, Louisiana, Broussard is a graduate of Acadiana High School, where he lettered in basketball and baseball. He previously served our country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. He and his wife, Dana, have four children: sons Jude and Evan, and daughters Evie and Ella (born in Raleigh). His interests include golf, the outdoors, watching his kids’ activities, and old cars.
