One of the top head coaches in NCAA women's basketball, Wes Moore will begin his fourth season as the head coach of NC State with the start of the 2016-17 campaign.
In his first season at the helm of the NC State women's basketball program (2013-14), Moore led the Wolfpack to the following accomplishments:
A 25-8 record
A top 25 RPI
A fourth place ACC finish despite preseason prediction of 10th
11 straight weeks in the AP and USA Today polls
A first AP top-10 ranking since 2001
Four wins over AP top-20 teams
Ten wins over top-100 RPI teams
A 13-2 nonconference record

His second season (2014-15) at the helm of the Wolfpack was also impressive, as his team struggled through the significant adversity of having five student-athletes miss a combined 81 games throughout the season as a result of multiple injuries and an NCAA ruling on freshman Bosnian center Sara Boric to still finish with an 18-15 record which ended in the Sweet 16 of the 2015 WNIT.
In a WNIT first-round win at East Tennessee State on March 19 of his second season at NC State, Moore earned the 600th win of his career. In so doing, he became just the ninth head coach in NCAA history to earn 600 wins in 800 or fewer games (791).
During Moore’s third season (2015-16), the Wolfpack posted a 20-11 record (10-6 ACC) to finish tied for fifth in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings. NC State dominated local rivals Duke and North Carolina throughout the season, sweeping the season series against both teams for the first time since the 1990-91 season. On January 14, the Wolfpack won 65-62 at No. 22 Duke, winning at Cameron Indoor Stadium for the first time since 1996. The Wolfpack followed this up with a 29-point win over North Carolina on January 31, the largest such NC State victory in the series since 1978. NC State would complete the sweep at North Carolina on February 21, winning 80-66 in front of a national TV audience during ESPN’s Play 4Kay week.
NC State Director of Athletics Deborah A. Yow announced on April 5, 2013 that Wes Moore had been hired as NC State's new head women's basketball coach.
Moore spent 15 seasons (1988-2013) as the head coach at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) where he led the Lady Mocs to 12 Southern Conference (SoCon) regular season titles, nine SoCon tournament championships, and nine NCAA Tournament berths, while becoming the winningest coach in UTC and SoCon history. He came to Raleigh as the reigning SoCon Coach of the Year, an award he has earned on six separate occasions.
In the 2012-13 campaign, Moore guided the Lady Mocs to the SoCon regular season and tournament titles, equaled the best win total in school history at 29-4, and knocked off an NCAA Elite Eight Tennessee Lady Vols squad by a score of 80-71 in the regular season. The Lady Mocs posted a 19-1 conference mark and closed out the regular season on a 19-game win streak, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
He is the first coach in history to advance three different teams to the NCAA Tournament at the Division I, II, and III levels.

With the additions of Notre Dame, Louisville, Pittsburgh and Syracuse, the ACC will clearly be the premiere women's basketball conference in the nation. NC State is determined to return to the upper tier of our league, and, over time, Coach Moore and his staff will achieve that goal for us. Additionally, his teams have excelled academically, and we share that value."
Near the end of his time at UT Chattanooga, Moore's Lady Mocs squads recorded perfect 1000 single-year NCAA Academic Progress Rates (APR) in three of the last four reporting periods and Graduation Success Rates (GSR) above 75% for the last four cohort periods.

From 1993-95, Moore served as women's basketball assistant coach at NC State under legendary head coach Kay Yow. During that time, the Wolfpack went 34-24 and reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. His other head coaching stops include Maryville College (Division III) and Francis Marion (Division II).
