Jimmy Long joined the Wolfpack football staff in 2017 as a defensive graduate assistant.
A native of Sarasota, Fla., Long spent 2016 as the special teams and defensive line coach at Sewanee: The University of the South. In 2014-15, he was a quality control assistant at The Citadel.
The 25-year-old played college football at Lenoir Rhyne University, where he was a second-team All-American, won first-team all-region honors and was an all-conference performer at defensive tackle. A four-year letterwinner, Long was a team captain for the Bears squad that was a three-time conference champion and the national runner-up.
As a senior in 2013, he was named the South Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week and was named the “Relentless Player of the Week” twice.
Long earned his B.S. in exercise physiology with a minor in business from Lenoir Rhyne in 2014. He graduated with a 3.55 cumulative GPA.
