RALEIGH, N.C. – For the second time this season, NC State's senior linebacker Popo Aguirre has been named ACC Linebacker of the Week after the Wolfpack's win over Cal.
The Fayetteville, Ga., native totaled a game-high 16 tackles and two tackles for a loss over the Golden Bears. It was the fourth game this season Aguirre has finished with double-digit tackles.
With 77 total tackles this season and an average of 9.6 tackles per game, he ranks second in the ACC and 12th in the country. His 35 solo tackles rank third in the conference and 44th nationally.
He is the first linebacker since Payton Wilson in 2023 to be named ACC linebacker of the week twice in the same season and joins Wilson and Drake Thomas as the only Wolfpack linebackers to earn the honor in the same season.
The Wolfpack have taken home four ACC player of the week awards this season. Teague Andersen and Keenan Jackson have joined Aguirre in earning the weekly honors.
Aguirre will look to lead the Wolfpack defense again when NC State takes on Duke on Saturday, November 7th, at Carter-Finley Stadium.
