Veteran athletic administrator Brad Brown joined the NC State Athletics senior staff in October of 2024 as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations. He oversees NC State’s athletic facilities and grounds, event management, equipment operations, and capital projects.
Brown came to Raleigh after spending two years as the first-ever Chief Operations Officer for IPTAY, Clemson’s athletics fundraising organization. At Clemson, he was responsible for effectively managing the organization’s resources and infrastructure and advising the CEO on all operational-related functions. Brown had primary oversight of finance and business operations, human resources, communications, premium hospitality, strategic planning efforts, NIL operations, and board governance. He was also responsible for maintaining key relationships with Clemson Athletics staff, IPTAY Board of Directors, university leadership, donors, and organizational constituents.
Before arriving at Clemson in July of 2022, Brown served as the Deputy Director of Athletics at the University of New Hampshire, where he was responsible for department-wide administration, specifically the direct oversight of both internal and external operations. He was responsible for all revenue-generating entities, including ticket sales and service, which finished the 2021-2022 season 120% to goal. Brown played an integral role in managing capital projects for the Wildcats, including a Whittemore Center Arena renovation project valued at $6M. He also negotiated a new apparel deal and established a strategic partnership that provided the department with an outbound ticket sales and service model. In addition to these responsibilities, Brown was the sport administrator for twelve athletics programs.
Prior to UNH, Brown spent 11 years at Army West Point, serving as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations from 2019-21. In that role, he was a member of the athletic department’s senior leadership team and was responsible for event and facility management, capital project initiatives, NCAA and conference championships, team support, strategic planning, summer sports camps, and served as the sport administrator for five athletics programs. Brown held oversight of the department’s procurement operation and executed agreements worth more than $3.7 million annually. Brown was a member of the Army-Navy Steering Committee and spearheaded the operations efforts for “America’s Game” during his tenure at West Point. He was a key member of the project management team for the Michie Stadium Preservation Project, which is currently valued at $95 million.
Prior to West Point, Brown worked for BookHill Partners, LLC, where he served as the primary media contact for the Taylor Hooton Foundation’s “PLAY Campaign,” which took place in all major league baseball stadiums during the summer of 2008.
Brown currently serves as the President of the CEFMA (Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association) Board of Directors which he was appointed to in the spring of 2018. He was appointed to the NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Committee in 2019 to further enhance the student-athlete experience in the sport and served as the Committee Chair during the 2020-2021 season.
Brown grew up in an Army family and, upon completion of high school, attended the University of New Hampshire, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He earned a master’s degree in Sport Leadership from Northeastern University in 2018.
In addition to his civilian career, Brown enlisted in the US Army Reserve in 2017 as a Combat Engineer.
Brown and his wife Stephanie are proud parents of daughter, Kieran (6) and son, Landon (3).
