Women’s Golf Finishes First Tournament of Season at Cougar Classic

HANAHAN, S.C. – The NC State women's golf team opened the fall season at the Cougar Classic at Yeamans Hall Club this week, finishing in 13th against a stacked field. NC State shot a 21-over 873 (293-288-292).
Marie Eline Madsen led the Wolfpack with a 2-under 211 (70-68-73) to finish in a tie for ninth. Her ninth-place showing marks the 16th of her career. She registered 10 birdies across the three rounds.
Freshman Bonnie Lo had the second lowest 54-hole score with a 6-over 219 (72-74-73). She tied for 48th in her collegiate debut. Ellie Hildreth finished with a 9-over 222 (74-75-73) to tie for 64th, tallying eight birdies.
Violeta Fernandez finished with an 11-over 224 (79-72-73) to tie for 73rd and Lindsay McGrath had a 12-over 225 (77-74-74) to finish 76th.
NC State tied for the third best par 5s average (4.80) and fourth best par 3s average (3.17) in the field.
