RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State women's soccer topped Virginia Tech, which is receiving votes in the latest IWSOC/United Soccer Coaches poll, 3-0, on Sunday evening at Dail Soccer Stadium. Jade Bordeleau, Mana Nakata and Antonella Mazziotto provided the scores as the Wolfpack returned to the win column following its first loss of the season.

The victory marked NC State's ninth of the season, giving the Wolfpack its most wins in a season since 2021.

Bordeleau opened the scoring with her 13th goal of the season in the 16th minute. The play started with a ball played upfield by Alex Mohr before Daisy Duda sent it into the box, where Bordeleau headed it home.

Nakata doubled the Wolfpack's lead in the 40th minute with her second goal of the season. After receiving a ball from Mary Frances Symmes in the box, Nakata's initial shot was blocked by the Hokies, but she collected the rebound and finished to put the Pack ahead, 2-0.

Mazziotto added insurance in the 80th minute, with Mohr recording her second assist of the night. Mohr sent a ball downfield to Mazziotto, who weaved around the Hokies' goalkeeper in the box before finding the back of the net.

Amor Leigh Martin Esteban made her first start in goal since Aug. 16 at VCU, recording a clean sheet with three saves. She became the second Wolfpack freshman goalkeeper to record a shutout win this season.

The Wolfpack outshot the Hokies, 17-11, and has now outshot every opponent this season. NC State also held an 11-5 advantage in corner kicks.

Of Note:

Bordeleau's goal was her 13th of the season and 29th of her career. She is now three goals shy of the 32 needed to tie for eighth in NC State career history and one goal shy of the 14 needed to tie for 10th on the program's single-season list.
Nakata's goal was her second of the season and sixth of her career.
Mazziotto's goal was her third of the season and fifth of her career.
Duda recorded her team-leading fourth assist of the season on the opening goal.
Mohr recorded the first two assists of her career, giving her three and four career points, respectively.
NC State outshot Virginia Tech, 17-11, and continues its streak of outshooting every opponent this season.
Sunday's win gave NC State nine victories on the season, its most since 2021.
The victory marked Gary Higgins' 14th win at the helm of the Wolfpack and the 124th win of his coaching career.
